The Vision Behind Every Harvest: The Story of Horia Bucin

At the core of Bucin Agro SRL's success lies the vision of entrepreneur Horia Bucin. Coming from a different field – the furniture industry – Horia recognized the enormous potential of organic agriculture and chose to invest heavily in a green and sustainable future.

In 2017, he launched an ambitious project: the establishment of a super-intensive organic sea buckthorn plantation covering 25.58 hectares in the Dedrad-Batoș area, Mureș county. This initiative transformed an old, unproductive orchard into a benchmark of modern agriculture. The investment was substantial, supported both by EU EAFRD funds and tens of thousands of euros in personal capital, covering land preparation and the acquisition of certified planting material from trusted suppliers. The dedication was exemplary: the actual planting of the sea buckthorn was completed at a rapid pace, in just three days and three nights, using state-of-the-art planting machinery and GPS technology for impeccable precision.

Modern Machinery: We operate with state-of-the-art Italian and Turkish equipment, specifically designed for mechanical weed control, thus eliminating the need for pesticides and other harmful chemicals.
Smart Irrigation System: Our plantations benefit from a high-performance irrigation system with Israeli technology from NannDanJain, which ensures optimal management of water resources, even if active irrigation needs are reduced in certain seasons.
Organic Certification: We are proud to announce that our entire sea buckthorn crop is certified organic by Ecocert Romania, a guarantee of compliance with the strictest European standards in organic farming.
Long-Term Investment: We know that the path to profitability in organic farming requires patience and dedication. The investment in sea buckthorn is projected to become fully profitable after the fourth or fifth year, as the crop reaches maturity and the organic conversion period is completed.
